Properties of alumina-based ceramic cores

Fused corundum is a rather promising raw material for preparing an alumina-based ceramic core due to its excellent high temperature resistance and chemical inertness. In this study, cores were prepared using fused as the matrix material, effect of varying silica powder contents on properties cores, including sintering shrinkage, flexural strength, deformation was investigated. The mineralization mechanisms also analyzed. optimum addition amount in experiment 8% weight. At that moment, aluminum-based has both low shrinkage coefficient 0.66% better properties: room strength 22.19 MPa, 21.54 0.93 mm, residual 47.41 MPa.
